I’ve been having a lot of problems lately with blood circulation and Rosacea, so this post is mostly just to help me store some info on future treatments and educate anyone who’s interested. This is an otherwise very boring post, so beware!
“Rosacea is a common but often misunderstood condition that is estimated to affect over 45 million people worldwide. It affects white-skinned people of mostly north-western European descent, and has been nicknamed the ‘curse of the Celts’ by some in Ireland and Scotland. It begins as erythema (flushing and redness) on the central face and across the cheeks, nose, or forehead but can also less commonly affect the neck and chest. As rosacea progresses, other symptoms can develop such as semi-permanent erythema, telangiectasia (dilation of superficial blood vessels on the face), red domed papules (small bumps) and pustules, red gritty eyes, burning and stinging sensations, and in some advanced cases, a red lobulated nose (rhinophyma).”
I have been experiencing constant, red facial skin (looks like a bad sunburn); hot, clammy, “fever-like” skin; tons of little, pimple-like bumps on my face (to the point where it’s rare to have smooth skin on my face anymore… yuck!), flushing attacks w/ burning. stinging, and throbbing, and constant eye burning, inflammation, and vision impairment. Good news is, just about all the treatments I’m undergoing can multi task and treat more than one symptom at a time.
My treatments/supplements/etc:
- 200 mg Doxycycline daily (for those sore bumps on my face and my eye symptoms)
- 1060 Nd: YAG laser (for flushing attacks and *hopefully* it’ll do something for my facial redness)
- Claritin 1x daily (it’s supposed to help the burning sensations, but I don’t know…)
- Probiotics 3x daily (to replenish the “good bacteria” the antibiotic kills… Tastes like seaweed!)
- Zinc 1x daily
- Hormone supplement 1x daily
- Ibuprofen as needed
Until I’m treated, sunlight and heat are my worst enemies (so I’m cavewoman, lol!). I’m hoping the antibiotics kick in, because I hate looking like a pimply-face. =[ Lol! The laser I'm using is supposed to be one of the best in treating the flushing attacks, and I'm hoping it works for that. If I'm still having trouble with facial redness and/or all the bumps, then I'll check out different lasers and pulse light treatments which are more geared towards those problems. I should know if the antibiotics work by the end of this month/beginning of April. Fingers crossed!! =]
