Life of a deadbeat. Surprise!Archive for April, 2008
Bye-bye, baby
Today I had my two final tests (including a new blood test) for the initial tests my endo ordered. I have my next appointment with her on the 7th. I guess she’ll tell me if the CT Scan found anything (besides a ring) then, since they haven’t called me. I also had my third LED treatment; my next one is Thursday.
I have a very sad piece of news. Tomorrow morning, we’re going to have to put down my dog, Kiri. She has developed cancer and is now skin and bones. Once she sits down, she can’t stand back up again. She shouldn’t have to suffer like that anymore.
We got Kiri in 1998, when I was eight years old. She was the first pooch signed to my name, and I was thrilled to have such a spunky puppy around the house (as Pepsi was always very sweet and mellow). It’s funny – people expected her litter to be numerous, with lots of little red puppies, since that is generally the desired color in Ibizans. A few months later, here comes Kiri, all by herself, and pure white (just to spite everyone, I think). With there being so many dogs in the house, Kiri was rarely given any individual attention, but even so, she was always extra generous in dealing out licks and kisses.

We love you, Kir-Kir.
Like I said… STRANGE THINGS
It turns out I can’t get my blood drawn until Tuesday. I was, however, able to get a CT Scan of my stomach area. Very interesting… The building was squat and the walls in most areas were rounded, with many hallways, like a tunnel. I’ve never been there before, but the people were really nice. Once the “scanner people” had gotten my first image, an Asian guy came out and asked me if I had a belly-button ring on. I told him no. He ended up asking me two more times, finally explaining that a black circle was appearing around my navel on the images. Turns out it was a ring I swallowed when I was four.
O.O
I used to *love* the taste of metal when I was little, and many nights as I lay in my pretty curtained bed (which was later destroyed from too many children swinging from it), I would pop my cheap, metal, rhinestone ring into my mouth and get a taste of delicious metal (or so I thought at the time). It was inevitable that I’d swallow it sometime.
I remember freezing in a panic as I realized it was gone. I balked from the idea of telling mom, and instead I shut my eyes tight and willed sleep to come. When it wouldn’t, I resigned myself to my DOOM and shuffled into my parents’ bedroom.
A few minutes later, I remember slouching in a chair at the table beside my brother Chris. He said something like, “I can’t believe you did that.” Lol. I remembered he seemed nonchalant about the whole thing. Then I remember driving to the hospital, the doctor laughing, then realizing I wasn’t going to die. The doctor gave me one of those sterile masks to put over my mouth to take home, haha.
Fourteen years later, it’s still there. STRANGE STRANGE STRANGE.
The Asian “scanner guy” and the “scanner girl” thought it was really fun. The guy asked me what kind of a ring it was. LOL.
Afterward, they said they thought they had a diagnosis, but they had to talk it over with another doctor and stuff before letting me know. I’m not getting my hopes up yet, but it’d be cool if this was the cause of everything.
That ring must look awful. Ewww.
Strange Things
I had my endo appointment (at last!) and my second laser treatment today. The endo said that all the tests the doctor had run were not the ones she would have chosen to do, but it was good that he had ruled those possible causes out for her. I liked her – she was very young, easy-going, and positive. She said that she’d run different kinds of blood tests to check my androgen levels, as well as a scan of my stomach and some other tests. I’m going in for some of them tomorrow, bright and early.
The laser treatment went well, same as the first. I’m supposed to have two a week, but last week and this week we kind of messed up the scheduling by placing them on first a Thursday and then a Wednesday. You can’t get them back to back, and nobody works there fri through sun. Next week we will straighten this out by switching treatments to Tuesday and Thursday.
I’m still in an animated movie mood, so I watched Disney’s Hercules and Dreamwork’s The Prince of Egypt. I liked Hercules more in today’s viewing than I used to. The storyline is witty, fast-paced, and imaginative. The characters were likable, and even the side-kicks played key roles to the plot. While watching the Dreamworks flick, I was totally surprised to here Ofra Haza singing at the beginning. Strange coincidence! Some of the songs were highly unnecessary, but both films featured beautiful, highly stylized animation. Makes me wish I could paint colors like that.
Today I received a letter in the mail – “HAPPY BIRTHDAY from Jan Brewer, Secretary of State” with the words “Vote Arizona!” underneath. America is doomed.
Me encanta esta música
This a short post, just to talk about some songs I’ve been in love with lately. <3
The first is a French folk song of sorts. The video is just a close up of the song’s cover, so I don’t think it matters if the Youtube video is tiny here.
And another by Kayah with Cesaria Evora:
I wanted to post a song called “Elo Hi” by Ofra Haza, but it’s so hard to find any good videos of it that aren’t tagged onto the credits of a movie or something.
Not much to talk about! I watched the animated movie Anastasia again for one of the first times in ten years. I always thought it was Disney, but it’s 20th Century Fox. I thought it was better than a lot of Disney’s stuff, actually.
Michael has me playing Super Smash Bros Brawl a lot lately. I swear Snake is over-powered… and thus he is my new favorite character. XD
Two can play at that game!
I have been tagged by Queen Amy. I feel the need to comply under the risk of beheading. (Hehe <3) I’m supposed to write six weird things about myself. I’ll try my best, but I’m not promising anything interesting. XD
1) I find it harder to read The Lord of the Rings at the age of 18 than I did at the age of 10.
2) I used to be able to sing almost any Disney song from beginning to end, and I think I still can. O.o
3) I feel a little guilty about it, but I like reading celebrity gossip magazines. They’re very entertaining.
4) The past few months, at the end of most phrases that I say, I’ll mentally tag on, “Or am I tripping?” I rarely let myself say it out loud; can you imagine how annoying that would be?
5) I think Hebrew is one of the prettiest-sounding languages I’ve heard. Especially Hebrew songs sung by Ofra Haza!
6) I’m an avid reader of Lackadaisy Cats, hehe.
Okay, since there are no tag-backs, I don’t think I’ll be able to find anyone to send this to, since Amy is one of the only blogs I know. Is there any way to search for certain blogs that share my interests?
For a laugh:
