Six days…
… till my appointment! I was talking with a girl who started Accutane today, and she said that she was able to get her pills the day she got her blood test. I hope that happens in my case! I’ve been loading up on moisturizers and vaseline for my lips. I’ll have to get eye drops and a nice conditioner in case my hair dries out, as well.
I’m still waiting for the tanner to go away… I have this big dark patch around my neck, like a choker necklace or something, lol. I’m not using the new tanner until the old one is completly gone… might take another week or two at this rate. -_- My Rosacea’s behaving, though.
It’s been tough not eating sugar, but it’s starting to get easier. I’ve been eating lots of sweet fruit, but my dad has a penchant for purchasing molding batches. I opened the case of strawberries he brought home today and thought there were a lot of dark, fuzzy leaves on them. Delicious!
Anyone have any book suggestions? I have a Barnes and Noble gift card from Christmas that I really need to spend…
?
I have a blog? What?
Lol sorry, I really don’t update this much. No news is good news, I guess.
8 DAYS TILL ACCUTANE!!
Actually, that’s when I get my blood test… when the pills actually arrive at the pharmacy depends on how quickly my doctor reviews the test. Could be that day, could be four… Hopefully he’ll get to it quickly. Either way, it’s sooo close!!
My acne and Rosacea have been okay. I was finally getting used to have a bit of tan from the cream tanner when I accidentally used a retinoid on my face one night and made the tanner start to peel. Not nice. I’m going to let it fade completely then, when my Rosacea starts making me pink again, I’ll use the tanner again, sans retinoid. Having a bit of a golden/brown to my skin makes my hair look a lot of different browns, which it cool. Right now, because the Rosacea is being good, my face is so pale… It’s cool because this is how it used to be 24/7 before the redness cropped up. It’s nice, but it makes every flaw very obvious. I look forward to being pale again after I clear up, though!
I’m really tired, so I’m sorry if I’m talking in circles or babbling about nothing. I’ve been sick, so I’m trying to take it easy for the next week. It feels like my body has been aged thirty years… lol.
The Dark Knight review
A friend of mine told me The Dark Knight was much unlike previous Batman films, and jeez, was she right. This latest installment of the Batman franchise, more crime thriller than superhero movie, took many ambitious strokes – and impressed me with most of them. I’ll be first to admit that there was, of course, the occasional flaw, but between these small occurrences burned a heavier theme – a theme that rested mostly on the shoulders of Ledger’s and Eckhart’s characters. The Joker exuded humor and unpredictability, and Harvey Dent, crumbling under the Joker’s unyielding clamp on Gotham, offers the story some much-needed emotional backbone. I was taken aback by both performances.
The theme of the movie, constructed early-on and revolving around the Joker’s character, basically emphasized a “do good by mankind or do good by yourself” mentality. The Joker, who seemed to be the central, pivotal point in the story this time around as opposed to Batman, lured each character into his line of fire before promptly knocking them off their feet. He made characters do 180’s out of nowhere, spouted some surprisingly acute and crafty dialogue, and spurred the story ever onward. Ledger got the Joker’s quirky mannerisms – twitches, vocals, even the bounce in his step – down pat.
I was equally impressed by Harvey Dent’s characterization. Yes, the movie was rather trudging and almost exhaustive in its dense plot, but I was pleased they were able to fit Harvey’s complete transformation into Two Face into this movie. Dent, a stone wall in Wayne’s path to winning over love interest Rachel Dawes, was truly Batman’s counterpart. Where Batman stood stubborn and righteous, Dent rebelled and crumbled. This is just as much Harvey Dent’s story as it is Batman’s. Also, as an aside, Two Face’s short appearance was pretty kickass. From his “git-er-done” attitude to his ability to stand alone in his last-minute plight for revenge, he was, in many ways, all the things Batman had failed to become. His pursuit for fairness, Batman’s pursuit for righteousness, and the Joker’s lust for chaos leads the movie toward a rather twisting, emotionally exhausting turn of events. No one is who they’re supposed to be – something that comes as a delicious surprise.
All considered, I think The Dark Knight is all it’s hyped up to be: dark, thrilling, humorous, classic, thought-provoking, over-long, and ambitious. The deep moral plot – how far can your virtues go before they snap? – left me thoughtful and slightly unsatisfied. Surprisingly, I’m glad of this: when it comes to good movies, more will never be enough.
“Oh, meestah Jay <3″
I’m very excited to see The Dark Knight with Amy and her family tomorrow! It seems to have gotten very good reviews; hopefully it will be as good as (even better?) than the first. I’m glad they’ve used the Joker as the villain of this movie, but I was bummed to discover that Harley Quinn is nowhere to be seen. =[
I’m not as broken out as I was. I got a bit of a tan, which conceals the Rosacea well, as long as I avoid sugary foods and hot environments. My dermatitis on my forehead is still going strong, but as long as my skin is moisturized, it really isn’t noticable. Even when it’s bad, I can only see it when I step close to the mirror, so I’m not worrying about it.
17 days till Accutane – eep!!
Though I got some bangs in Florida, I didn’t get my hair trimmed or colored. This was mostly due to the fact that my mom and I couldn’t decide on how to color my hair. I wanted a dark chocolate brown; she wanted me to highlight it a light fawn/caramel brown. I think both are pretty, so I’ll probably get both colors put in, like this chick’s. After, if I want it darker, it should be easy to color it. From what I hear, it’s usually more difficult to go lighter.
My suitcase from the trip is still shoved against the windowsill where I dropped it last Wednesday. I can’t believe how much stuff I fit in there. o.o
Our flight was delayed the first day Michael and I were dropped off at the airport. The airport never told us, and if we hadn’t checked, we would have been stranded in Dallas. We could have gotten a hotel and stayed there till the next day, then continued on to Florida (the delay was payed for), but we decided to come back bright and early the following day and try again. This time the flight went through – Phoenix to Dallas, then on to Tampa. I love take-offs! All the clamour of fretting babies and televised safety procedures melts back as the plane’s wheels lift off the ground, nose in the air, onward hoooo. I don’t see how people can’t cran their head toward the nearest window, just to see landscape blur into misty blobs of brown and green. It doesn’t sound picturesque, but I love the bird’s eye view of Phoenix – dusty and glittering.
The airport made up for their mistake with the delay by giving us first class seats – something I didn’t realize until I was offered a croissant sandwhich, set on a black tablecloth with vinegarette salad and hot tea. Much more appreciated than trail mix and peanuts.
God, Florida was muggy. The heat wasn’t bad, but there was such a steaming pressure on your skin that I actually wished for some dry Arizona heat. We decided to nix a Walt Disney World trip until I next visit (in September) and instead took a taste of some common Floridian restaurants bars. Really, there are sooo many bars in that area. But the food was good.
My favorite part was sitting around the condo. It overlooked a small peninsula and had a friendly seagull that, early every morning, would mount the balcony and peer at us as we ate our breakfast. At least somebody finds stale Pop Tarts appetizing. -_-
I’ll see if I can post some pictures later. Now – laundry.
update
I’ve been in Florida for a few days. I wish I had remembered to bring my camera. News:
- Got some thick, chunky bangs cut
- Still breaking out; got higher percentage of hydrocortisone to treat the dermatitis on my forehead
- Getting closer to Accutane, woottt…
- Saw Kung Fu Panda and Wall-E
- Michael got bit up by mosquitos yesterday… quite a sight
Just hanging out. I’ll have more info on everything when I have more time. I think we’re flying back on the 16th.
